Education in Argentina

There are both public and private schools in Argentina, with a higher degree of literacy and schooling than in the rest of South America found in the country. Schooling in Argentina is overseen by the Ministry of Education, which designs and develops the public school curriculum. The first level of schooling can begin as early as 45 days old, and it becomes a requirement at the age of 5. Young Argentines are trained to be active, creative, social, confident, independent, respectful and knowledgeable.

School lasts from 8 to 12 in the morning, and it continues from 1 to 5 in the afternoon. Grades are rated on a scale of 0 to 10. Students in primary school learn about things like languages and communication, art and culture, science and math. Secondary school continues from the ages of 12 to 14, and stresses learning Spanish and foreign languages, physical fitness, creativity and non discrimination. Public school is free in Argentina, apart from supplies and books, but private schooling can be quite costly. Most of the private schools in Argentina are run by the Roman Catholic Church. In Argentina, students can continue to go to a public University or Institute for free, or they may attend a private one.
